Concerns
Acne
Acne is one of the most common skin concerns, affecting millions worldwide. According to the Cutera Acne Survey 2024, 90% of people with acne say it impacts their daily lives, with 9 in 10 avoiding social situations due to breakouts.
Acne occurs when sebum, the natural oil on your skin, mixes with dead skin cells and blocks your pores. This leads to pimples, whiteheads, blackheads, and even cysts.
Several factors contribute to acne development, including hormonal fluctuations (for example, during puberty or the menstrual cycle), genetics, stress, diet, skincare and environmental conditions. Recognising these influences is key to managing and effectively treating acne.
While managing acne can be challenging, The Mayfield Clinic by Dr Nestor is here to support you throughout your journey.
