Concerns

Gummy Smile

A “gummy smile” is a condition where someone’s gums are more visible than usual when they smile. It can cause self-consciousness and affect confidence. Others love this unique smile. We are all after all, imperfectly perfect.

There are several causes of a gummy smile, including hyperactive upper lip muscles (when the upper lip rises too high exposing a significant portion of the gums), dental issues and excessive gum tissue.

effects of

aging

Treatment options for a gummy smile depend on the underlying cause and severity of the condition so it is very important to book a consultation with one of our aesthetic clinicians to determine the most appropriate treatment available. In some instances, BOTOX can be used to relax the muscles and reduce gum exposure when smiling. We can also refer you to a dentist or surgeon, should you want to go down this route.
