Anti-Wrinkle Injections
BOTOX® is one of many commonly used wrinkle relaxers. The Mayfield Clinic by Dr Nestor only uses BOTOX® by Allergan, as it is the most extensively researched toxin, and has been used in excess of 30 years aesthetically, and 60 years medically.

What is BOTOX?
Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly used to target dynamic wrinkles, which are caused by repetitive facial movements such as frowning, squinting, or smiling. BOTOX® can help get rid of an angry scowl, crow’s feet and forehead lines. BOTOX is only ever recommended when it is clinically indicated, following a comprehensive medical consultation with one of our clinicians. In addition to treating wrinkles, BOTOX® can also be used for other aesthetic purposes, such as lifting the eyebrows, reducing the appearance of a gummy smile or orange peel chin, and softening the jawline. This is ‘off label’. Wherever used, the reason is the same – to achieve a fresher, more youthful, always natural look.

Treatment
How does BOTOX work? During the procedure, a small amount of purified Botulinum Toxin Type A is injected into facial muscle bellies of the area(s) being treated. The toxin works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that cause muscle contractions, thereby relaxing the muscles and reducing the appearance of wrinkles and lines. Results last on average, four months.
Wrinkle relaxing injections are ideal for moderate to severe lines formed by years of facial expressions. Repeated injections several months apart can help keep wrinkles from returning. It is important to have a thorough medical consultation with one of our clinicians to assess if BOTOX(R) is appropriate for you.
We should never aim to be void of movement. We are human and should express facial emotions. Instead, The Mayfield Clinic by Dr Nestor offers BOTOX® to soften the harshness of established lines (curative) or to stop them from forming all together (preventative). The aim of treatment is an overall facial rejuvenation that looks natural and refined.
